America turns 250 this year. Celebrate the neon lights, highway exits, dive bars, and the velvet-rope underbelly that has always existed just outside polite society.

The gentlemen’s club is part of that story. For decades these places have lived in the margins of American culture — equal parts taboo, theater, hustle, and freedom. Drifters from all walks of life passing through the same dim room bathed in red lights.

The smell of dollar bills and shame.
